Review by: LaurenReads1 ~ Author Ella Carmichael has penned a most enchanting tale in Dorothy Lyle in Avarice. The Miracles and Million Saga is Book 1 in the series, centered upon central character Dorothy Lyle. I immediately connected to the protagonist, who is about as complex as any woman with the claim of solely wanting the simpler things in life to get to their happy. And much like the real world, she finds that wanting isn't exactly the equivalent to getting. Carmichael does a great job of setting the tone in the mundane world of a nine to fiver, but the contrast is all in the adventures which commence as soon as Dorothy Lyle hits the tender age of 40 years old. No spoiler, but nothing will be the same on a life journey which includes psychic experiences, an unexpected shift in finances and dealing with a host of colorful characters responding to the biggest change that ever was along the way. I highly recommend this contemporary fiction read.

I loved this book! Action packed with a great story line. Actually two story lines the zombie apocalypse and a serial killer. There are strong female characters and more good people than bad coming together to survive the apocalypse. Also a plus for me as a dog lover is there are dogs that don't become just distractions or food for the zombies but actually help and are a part of the story. This book blew my socks off. It's the second in the series but it reads as a standalone (I haven't read the first book yet but didn't feel out of the loop while reading Objective). It has action, suspense, a little mystery, and a bit of romance. Cypress/Magnolia is a perfectly flawed strong female lead; she's got issues but anyone in her position would and I think she handled them amazingly well. She's smart and relatable, at least for me. This is a definite must read, especially for people who like bad boy romances. ~ Review by Justin and Katie Schauer

As some of the other reviewers have pointed out, this is a book for OLDER kids. My 11 year old son said it was AWESOME. He said the main character was really cool and there were tons of lines that cracked him up. I hope the author comes out with some more Minecraft novels soon.

This was quite a memorable book. The author, P.D. Quaver, has created an action-packed story filled with some really unique and endearing characters. The premise of the story piqued my interest. We all know someone who’s addicted to electronic devices (maybe we see that person in the mirror) and it seemed appropriate to base a fictional story off of this real-life, pervasive issue. This book delivered exactly what I’d hoped for – a thoughtful look at what it would be like to be device-less and a riveting story to encase this issue. The author did a phenomenal job of harnessing the power of strong characters, adventurous plot and attention-grabbing themes into a flawless story. For the fast-paced, engaging plot and the cross-genre appeal (action, adventure, adult and young adult fiction) of this unique story, I give this book a much-deserved 5 stars.

Who knew being kidnapped could become so tedious?

Rafaela let out a long, even sigh. Biting into the fleshy part of her bottom lip, she looked down at the crumpled body of her would-be abductor and kicked him in the head. As her keen eyes examined the now helpless man, she heard a sound. Dropping smoothly into a catlike crouch, she held her breath and listened.

One second.

Two seconds.

Nothing.

Still cautious, she kept her arms at her sides, peered over her rental car, and pivoted to peek through the smudged windows of the beat-up silver Subaru parked next to her. She stood in one lithe movement, exhaled, and scanned the icy Detroit airport parking deck.

Completing this task with the efficiency of one who’s accustomed to being both predator and prey , she acknowledged that she was safe and alone. Now relaxed, she returned to examining her assailant. She leaned over the man and rolled her eyes like a woman forced to repeat an everyday household chore out of necessity.

Hmm, he would almost be a perfect specimen if it weren’t for his rather weak chin. The strong smell of his lime-scented cologne found her nose. She moved back a few steps. Observing him from a slight distance, an idea occurred to her, causing her lips to part into a graceful smile.

Opening her silk-lined jacket to the cold April air, she quickly located surgical gloves and guided them over her diminutive hands. Once protected, her nimble fingers proceeded to pat down the man’s voguish, black blazer. She plucked out his passport and other pieces of identification, read them with an uninterested expression, and with an incredulous snort, tossed them aside.

Sliding her phone from its snug inner pocket, she clicked on the recorder app and lifted one of the man’s eyelids . “Dr. Rafaela Ramos, Subject K465: Blond hair, light blue eyes. Appears to be I1— Viking dominant, with strains of I2a— Danish and Pre-Celtic—I2b.”

With a mischievous gleam in her eyes, Rafaela loosened the man’s ponytail. Carefully avoiding the three inch, dyed black strip in the front, she thrust her tweezers deep into his roots and greedily yanked out a sizable hair sample. She wound these strands into an efficient loop and placed them into a small plastic bag before tucking them into her right breast pocket.

Next, she cradled the head of her subject in one hand, and with the other, clicked her recorder back on. “Response to gas inhalant—”

"Whatever you may or may not find attractive about him, I'd suggest you think very carefully before going anywhere near him. He is in the middle of a very messy divorce." Lochlan drawled after a few moments, raising an eyebrow. "Not to mention the emotional baggage inherent in having been married to a serial philanderer for the best part of your life."

"That's a bit harsh, don't you think?" Alexa asked hopefully, sneaking another glance towards the older man, who was busy chatting with Richard and Emma.

"After all, everyone knows the divorce has been coming for... what? Two years?"

"At least three." Elizabeth murmured, shrugging. "But still, Lochlan's right..."

"I didn't say it wouldn't be a bad idea." Lochlan cut in smoothly, still managing to sound as though he honestly didn't care. "Just that she would have to be careful."
