But eventually, working at “Groundhog Day Brokerage Firm” lost its luster. Being in a cubicle all day felt like a prison to me. So I gave my two weeks’ notice and quit. I had gotten everything I had possibly wanted out of the situation . It was time to do something different.

I re -evaluated everything. What did I really want to do? I wasn’t exactly sure, but it wasn’t going to be sitting behind a desk all day. I knew what it was that I didn’t want. Now I needed to figure out what I did want.

One night, some friends and I wandered into a strip club. We had had a few drinks, and I went with the promise of more drinks and fun. I simply loved this book. It felt like knocking on someone's soul and being invited for a full ride down to memory lane. Jane is talking about her life at a crossroad. After losing her husband, her love - she sees herself forced to continue living in the big unknown that life is. The novel is written as a personal confession of feelings, happenings, places and people. Reading it felt like an emotional road, like driving the car along deserted and crowded places while listening to some great emotional music. Probably a book more for female readers, but a really good one that makes you think about life.

Lost and Found in Sea Isle City is a book that really makes you think about life and how sometimes you just need to start living it! Jane Harper's life has been crushed by tragedy and she is truly discovering the excitement of hope. This story will cause you to wonder about various choices you have and haven't made. It's a story that will make you want to take action! ~ Jeanine McGee

With the blink of an eye, it was over. All the memories we had together, both good and bad, were over. All of our hopes and dreams were crushed. It wasn’t supposed to end this way. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. We were not finished our list: our to-do list for life; our life-long list to accomplish together as a family. Even though it was only the two of us, we were still a family. Jimmy and I were soul mates. I never understood why he was taken from me at such an early age.

I still can’t believe I said my final goodbyes to my husband, my soul mate, my best friend. We were married for five years and dated for 3 years prior to that; however, those years were the best years of my life. Sure we had our fights like everyone else , but Jimmy was that special person always by my side.

The funeral was a blur. I just recall the music playing faintly in the background and relatives kept coming up to me and asking, “Jane, are you ok?” I kept wondering how people could ask me that question: are you ok? No, I thought to myself each and every time a friend or relative would reach out to me for a hug . Instead I replied, “I am trying.” I am not sure what that even meant… I was trying, but it was hard. It was still hard… sometimes even to this day.

It had been two years since Jimmy’s funeral and I still couldn’t seem to accept it, nor was I ready. But is anyone ready for death? I can recall the night in the hospital. It all happened so fast.

Aba and Shamana a tale of unstinting devotion, love and friendship

The story is set in a fictitious Middle Eastern region two thousand years ago. The tale begins with the arrival of a mysterious stranger to a goat herder’s campsite, who captivates a little girl named Alimud with a story about a giant donkey and the young girl who cared for him.

The story is ultimately one of Love and Friendship between an unusual giant donkey, named Aba that has supernatural abilities, and of Shamana the young girl who raises him after the death of his mother Jenna. Aba grows from a gangly foal to become a mammoth donkey that reaches over two meters in height. He is often regarded as a beast, but his fearsome appearance belies his true gentle, golden hearted nature.

Shamana herself is imbued with a Visionary gift which enables her to interpret through her vivid dreams other people’s destinies and fates.

The story interweaves the Christian holy family bringing them back to life again, by depicting them in what may have been typical daily life during those times. It highlights the importance and value of family being the cornerstone that strengthens the ties that bind each member within it to the other. The story brings together two families through unusual circumstances which over time forms the basis for their unbreakable bond to each other throughout their lives and shows that being a family does not necessarily require being blood related.

Aba and Shamana’s unique bond is tested by the arrival of Jesu who is much loved by them both. Over time Shamana becomes disturbed by her terrifying, ill-boding dreams surrounding Jesu’s future, so decides to entrust her beloved Aba to watch over and protect Jesu as he grows to manhood. However, this means Aba has to leave her to go and live in a distant part of the country.

When Aba fails to protect the one he loves, with tragic consequences he comes to face such heartbroken despair that he wanders the wilderness in search of Shamana. Aba knows that only his beloved Shamana, his surrogate mother can heal him.

At last, the tale once again returns to the young Alimud, who on receiving a gift from the nomad before he vanishes from the campsite, realises upon opening his gift the true meaning of the nomad’s tale about the golden hearted, gentle giant donkey, named Aba.

Horrible Piano Player

My mother has great friends. Once such friend; is the late Carol Z. Bless her soul. Carol was incredibly witty and smart. She was not afraid to speak her mind and share knowledge.

Here is an example of a conversation we had: Carol asked me, “If I were to tell you that you were a horrible piano player, what would you do?” I answered that I would laugh and agree with her about that. She responded by telling me that is because I do not see myself as being a piano player.

Then she asked, if I said you were a horrible mother, how would you respond?” I said that I would get mad at you and feel hurt that you would say such a thing. Carol then replied by saying, “Exactly. The reason you would do that is because your identity is tied up in being a great mother. It all comes back to that and that is how we react to things in our life.”

She went on to say that people take things personally and get upset because of how they think of themselves. Everything in your life is tied into your identity and how you feel about yourself.

After Carol died, I wrote this song in memory of her and others that were close to me.

Who knew that when 4x Olympic Rower, Silken Laumann, brought home the gold medal for Canada, she was plagued with the pain of her past, the trauma of her childhood, and a story that needed to be told.

Join founder of The S.W.A.T. Institute, Crystal Andrus, as she interviews Silken Laumann, in one of the most intimate, honest interviews Silken has ever given.

When the call started the first thing I heard Crystal Andrus speak of that I wrote down was this - "When I speak authentically, my audience hears me." She is right. I listen and learn when I hear both her and Silken speak. And...I listen to what they write as well.

If you are unfamiliar with Silken Laumann's story, she is an Olympic Rower who was in a debilitating accident 10 days before she was to compete in the Olympics. On the call she spoke about how, as an athlete, she already knew how to use visualization to her advantage. In those important days following the accident, she asked her body to heal itself. She used visualization, refused to take pain killers and only allowed positive people around her. No naysayers allowed.

Silken also worked out with bungee cords in bed to keep her upper body in shape as well as her good leg. Turns out it was later shown scientifically that her hurt leg benefited from the work out she gave her healthy leg.

Silken Laumann's advice to us is this:

• Send love to your body. It affects you on a cellular level.
• Get outside and play!
• Have hope.

After being in a relationship for the past four years, Ryan Edwards didn’t know how to be a single adult . He had gotten together with Brooke when they were both seniors at Jefferson High and after three years of trying to juggle a long distance relationship, school and work, it just didn’t work out.

She wanted him to drive up to visit her every weekend and he just couldn’t justify the time or gas money to make the trip. He loved her ... like a sister. But, he just wasn’t in love with her the way he thought he should be. So, when she started bitching about her needs and his lack of motivation to be with her , he didn’t argue . He agreed that she deserved better and let her go.

Four weeks later, Ryan was still moping around his apartment, waiting for Ms. Right to come knocking on his door. But he was pretty sure that she wasn’t going to be delivering pizzas or his mail anytime soon so when his boss invited him to have a beer after work one night, he couldn’t think of a decent reason not to.

“Dude, you need to get out of this funk. You’re twenty-one and single. These are the best years of your life. Go out and sow your oats. You shouldn’t be tied down to a girl right now anyway. You should be doing a different girl every night. God knows I was when I was your age,” Paul said.

“Yeah, and you were my age... what, five years ago?” Ryan said with a smirk.

“Five years that feels like fifteen. Once you settle down and start talking about rings and babies, everything is different. Allie just moved in and she is already hinting about a wedding. You don’t know how lucky you are to have choices. You can literally choose any person in this bar and just have a one night stand if you want to. Hell, you can choose five chicks in this bar if you want to.”

Ryan wasn’t much of a player but the idea of having choices was appealing. He’d never given much thought to what he really wanted in a girlfriend before. When he was with Brooke, he was content. But if he had to come up with a list of what he was attracted to, there were just a few things that were non-negotiable. Good sense of humor was definitely at the top of his list. He felt like he hadn’t laughed in months and really missed it. He had a few friends that could always make him laugh and he needed that in a partner. An easy going personality was also pretty high up there. He wanted to be able to have fun whether he was eating breakfast or watching TV.

Brooke was self-centered and cared too much about what other people thought of her to ever really relax . She wore five inch heels to baseball games, for God’s sake. He would definitely be more picky with his next girlfriend.

“You’re right. I should just walk up to that table of women and ask if they’d all like to come back to my apartment. I bet they’d totally dig that. Or, better yet, I’ll just strip and lay across their table and tell them to sample the goods.”

A good quick read.~ Review by M. Arce

I liked this story. A quick read, but I wonder how Ryan is going to handle his buddy Paul (who cheats on his girlfriend and doesn't come off as a sensitive guy) when he reveals his new relationship status. I love HEA stories, so, though this isn't what I usually read (I've only read a few gay romances. But, then, love IS love, right?) I felt that Ryan and Zach have a good start to that.
