A Rebel Star

A Rebel Star

a literary gem ~ Review by Meghan TOP 1000 REVIEWER

Two years ago, I thoroughly enjoyed Alyssa Rae’s debut novel, ‘A Lion’s Pride.’ So when I accidentally found that she has a new book, I snapped it up right away. And I’m happy to report that I was not disappointed— ‘A Rebel Star’ bears the author’s distinct style and creativity. I’m not sure how she does it, or how she masterfully crafts these complex plots, but she’s obviously at the peak of her literary powers—a fact that’s obvious right at the get go. Check out the first opening pages and you’ll see.

A Rebel Star’ features a young British teenaged upstart named Marienela—or Mari to her friends. Mari lives a privileged life as a member of London’s upper crust. Her father, a businessman, has business interests around the globe. Mari’s internal struggle begins when she learns about Nigeria at school. It just happens that Nigeria is the specific country that would soon be affected by a recent major business decision made by her own father. Rich in oil, Nigeria is being torn apart by various agents of greed and corruption—from the government officials to oil companies that want to exploit the oil to its fullest capacity. Learning that her father has a direct hand in the suffering of its people, aside from the questions Mari wants answered regarding her own mother, Mari does the unthinkable—she flies to Nigeria to witness first-hand how the locals suffered from the oil companies’ machinations. What follows is a rich, eye-opening tapestry of the kind of life those in London (and the rest of the First World) only so rarely, if ever, get to witness and experience.

The chapters devoted to Mari’s encounters with the poor folk and the in-fighting in Nigeria are worth more than the price of this book. Author Alyssa Rae has crafted a believable character in Marienela, one that you can deeply empathize with. The author manages to create an unforgettable character whose evolution from the pampered teen to one who so willingly stand among the oppressed is jaw-droppingly competent. ‘A Rebel Star’ is an engaging read. Devote a full weekend to be awed. Highly recommended.

Book Description:

She will meet rebels and soldiers. Writers and fighters. Face violence and corruption. And, through it all she will have to choose. Will Marienla return to the comfort and safety of her London home, or will she become…A Rebel Star

It's All Fun and Games

It's All Fun and Games (Available for Pre-Order on inkshares)

Book Description:

When six high school friends spend a weekend Live Action Role Playing they discover that the game world is both real and very, very deadly.

Fifteen year-old Alison Duggan finally gives in and joins her best friend TJ’s regular gaming group on a weekend of adventure that he promises “will be fuuunnnn.” Not long after the adventure begins, however, the friends find themselves transported from Earth to a world filled with both magic and danger. Suddenly, what Alison expected to be a relaxing weekend being geeky turns into a fight for survival against brigands, kobolds, and other nasty characters as the group tries to finish their mission…or at least get back home.

It's All Fun and Games is the first in a series of Young Adult novels that follow Alison and her friends as they adventure through the game world.

Prologue

“Run! NOW!” TJ shouted, yanking at Alison’s sleeve. Her eyes were focused on the ground, where their friend lay, twitching slightly. An arrow shaft stuck out of his chest. Her first thought was that it was all part of the game – this was some elaborate way of pranking the newbies on their first outing. If so, it wasn’t very funny.

But no, there was no way that arrow was fake. The noise it had made when it struck. The blood that was rapidly spreading across his clothes. The raspy way he was breathing and the saliva slowly trickling from between his lips. Alison felt another yank on her shoulder and TJ shouted, “Leave him for now!” She shrugged off his grasp, reaching down to try to drag her injured friend by the collar. After only a few moments she gave up, however, recognizing the futility of the effort.

A sudden force struck her in the shoulder and spun her around. Dazedly, she looked for whoever had hit her with a bat and was surprised to see no one standing nearby. Instead, she found a second arrow stuck in the wall, still quivering with spent energy. She reached up to her shoulder and felt a dent in the metal of her breastplate. A quick look revealed that the archer in the woods had drawn a third arrow and was fitting it to his bow, a determined look on his face. With a cry of anguish and one last look at her fallen friend, she turned and fled after TJ and the others.

Attracted to him like a vampire

Take a Piece of my Heart Instagram

Have you ever flipped through books on Amazon looking at the cover and description only? I must say the cover for this book and the description are excellent BUT looking into this book gives it the attention it deserves. Excerpt below review!
He was a real badass, and I was attracted to him like a vampire is enticed to the fresh, savory blood of a virgin. - Kara Salinger Morino (main character)
Excerpt of Book Description: Kara begins her journey as a youthful innocent woman who marries the town bad boy against her parent’s wishes. A James Dean rebel clone…”THAT GUY”. You know the type because we have all had one of those in our past. Am I right? Though her bad choices bring her face-to-face with the dark side of human nature, Kara’s heartfelt desire to find a pure and everlasting love give her the courage to take chances. This is the story of Kara and her quest to find her voice, freedom from her past and her own identity. She is a strong spirited female with a snarky attitude and an often-colorful viewpoint on life. Kara is no Barbie doll (either in build or temperament) and thus, her tale will relate to many female readers.

‘Take a Piece of My Heart’ is Kara’s journey of love, friendships, romance, lust and loss. She learns slowly that mistrust, love and hatred of some people may require a second chance.

This "New Author" has a bright future in the book world!
I was so impressed with this story,I could not put it down! What a great story! This story has everything you want in a good book. You have a great story line, drama,(what's a story without drama?) And put those two in the same room together and you are in for a treat!
The characters are all so down to earth and just as much fun as your true life friends. You really connect with these characters. You feel what they feel and it's like they are people you know in real life.I really connected with Kara and DJ from the start.Once I started reading this I was hooked. From the very first page! - Excerpt of review by Brenda Romine

EXCERPT – PROLOGUE

Duffy, Diane Rose. Take a Piece of My Heart (Kindle Locations 107-127).

So this is what it feels like to hit rock bottom and join the ranks of the scum of the earth. I feel intense pain as my arms are jerked behind my back. Seriously, is it really necessary to be so rough when I'm obviously not resisting? When I hear the click of the handcuffs and feel the tightness around my wrists, it becomes quite evident this cop has either a vendetta against women, or little-dick syndrome.
I glance over at Danny as he is being questioned, not detecting a smidgen of remorse in his expression. I can only overhear bits and pieces of his conversation, but what I do hear turns my heart to stone. Any love I ever had for this man completely broke away and melted like ice in a kiln from my wounded heart. He’s conversing with the good cop because it seems I apparently got assigned the bad cop. As I eavesdrop from afar, Danny is insisting to the good cop, She needs to be arrested. I want to press charges so take the bitch to jail.

I'm thinking to myself that Danny will not get the satisfaction of watching me cry again. The bad cop starts frisking and feeling me out, and I look around at my neighbors and friends who are enjoying the spectacle in our yard when the floodgates of tears open with a vengeance. So much for that no crying intention. I'm not in the least too proud to beg Mr. Bad Cop to pretty please not take me to jail. I ramble on, professing about how I am so terribly sorry and it was all a huge misunderstanding. Many times I repeat what a good person I actually am, and that jail is most certainly not the place for a decent person such as myself. I continue to plead and sob but Mr. Bad Cop just snickers, ducks my head and shoves me in to the back seat of his police car---the very smelly and disgusting police car, to be precise. Not that I'm one to complain or anything, but Mr. Bad Cop was not very gentle and the police car is really smelly and disgusting like it should be a coroner’s vehicle. You must get the drift, right? But it’s not in my nature to whine. Who am I kidding? Silently in my mind I'm complaining, whining, cussing and downright fuming. However, what I feel the most is betrayed and alone.

I take one final glimpse around. I observe Danny still recounting his version of the story to Mr. Good Cop while staring at me with that hoity toity smug look on his face. If at all possible, I would go back and kick his teeth down his throat and make this degradation all really worth it. The neighbors have varying expressions on their faces, kaleidoscoping from sympathy, to remorse and a few in obvious titillation.

Yay me-hell on earth, the pokey here I come.

Don't Worry About The Mule Going Blind

Don't Worry About The Mule Going Blind

UK USA CDN AU

What a courageous way of revealing the pains, hurts, struggles, and most importantly the triumph of a woman who learns to dare, to chase, and to love. It is a must read! Teaches you to keep going regardless of what comes in your way! ~ Review by Jessica Daniels

Book Description:

Betty Tucker came of age in Belle Glade, Florida, infamous for its poverty and violence (e.g., see the Wikipedia entry and the 2006 documentary One Percent).

Her childhood was one of debilitating poverty, borne of racism: exploitative migrant labor, multiple rapes and other abuse, chronic illness among her family and acquaintances.....the list is long and bitter. Betty survival not only by sheer hard work but also by nurturing a nascent belief that she deserved better.

She moved to California, earned her college degree, and raised a family. Then, in 1997, she began a long and eventually successful search for the twin girls
she had given up for adoption thirty years earlier.

Fear, insecurity, sexual abuse, want, neglect: This memoir will look beyond the description of these difficulties in the author's life to examine how they stifled her ability to shape her own life, how she acquired the tools she needed to take more control of her life, and what impact her choices, both intentional and unintentional, had on her life and those of her children.

AWESOME ~ Review by L.J

As some of the other reviewers have pointed out, this is a book for OLDER kids. My 11 year old son said it was AWESOME. He said the main character was really cool and there were tons of lines that cracked him up. I hope the author comes out with some more Minecraft novels soon.

If you're looking for other Minecraft novels to pick up, my son also loved ENCOUNTERS WITH THE HEROBRINE 3-IN-1: Minecraft Novel Collection

Guest article by Mark Cheverton

--Book 1 in the Gameknight999 Series-- For ages 10+

~The most successful Minecraft novel on Amazon~

Gameknight999, King of the Griefers, is suddenly transported into his favorite game, Minecraft. As he struggles through spine-tingling life and death adventures, with giant spiders, zombies and creepers hunting him at every turn, Gameknight learns the greatest secret in Minecraft—the NPCs are alive and battling for their very survival.

A war is raging across all the server planes between the monsters of the Overworld and the NPCs. If the mobs win, then they’ll destroy everything within Minecraft, and be able to move into the physical world to take over EVERYTHING!

Only Gameknight999 can stop this war and save everyone. He is the key to salvation for all living creatures…or maybe he’s not the key at all, maybe he’s the fuse to destruction.

The Invasion of the Overworld is filled with exciting battles, suspenseful adventures, and detailed characters that will take the reader on a fully immersive journey that will let them see and feel Minecraft. The story has a strong message about anti-bullying and shows the negative ramifications of these anti-social behaviors. The Invasion of the Overworld teaches a compelling message that is resonating with both kids and adults all over the world.

For ages 10+ Book 1 in the Gameknight999 series: Gameknight999 loved Minecraft, reveled in building fabulous structures, playing on servers, creating custom maps, but most of all, he loved to grief.

As the self-proclaimed King of the Griefers, Gameknight played the game for himself at the expense of everyone else, keeping the list of his friends in the game short, extremely short. But when one of his father’s inventions teleports him into the game, Gameknight is forced to live out a real-life adventure within the digital world of Minecraft.

Unsure if he would respawn if killed in the game ... maybe he’d just disconnect ... or maybe he’d really die ... Gameknight must play the game with all of his skill and knowledge in order to avoid the sharp claws of zombies and pointed fangs of spiders.

While living out this terrible and painful adventure, he discovers the most well-kept secret about Minecraft, something not even the programmers realize; the creatures within the game are alive!

His emergence into the game triggers a war that threatens to consume all of Minecraft and possible the physical world as well. Gameknight must fight through the electronic world with his new NPC friend.

Excerpt: Chapter One

On a hot, humid, moonless night, in the small Trinidadian town of Coconut Grove, Kaya Abaniah lay awake on his bed, covered in a thick woollen blanket, drenched in sweat and shivering uncontrollably. Experiencing fresh waves of feverish chills, Kaya slowly reached for the glass of water on his bedside table. And, between shaky sips, his teeth chattered loudly, and a soft groan escaped his chapped lips. He gulped the tepid water past sore swollen tonsils and shakily placed the glass back on its bedside perch.

With a sigh, Kaya adjusted his pillow. Thinking of nothing in particular, he stared at the four walls, weakly illuminated by the ambient glow of his old computer’s LED standby button. In the gloom, his Bob Marley poster, the Birds of Trinidad and Tobago calendar, and the colourful acrylic paintings of local scenery he had meticulously produced were all reduced to morose shades of grey.

Trying to make himself comfortable, Kaya turned to his left and observed his mother, Josephine. She slouched, fast asleep, in the old wooden rocking chair that once belonged to Kaya’s grandmother. For the third night in a row, Josephine had watched over her ill son until fatigue finally got the better of her. In Kaya’s eyes, the headstrong thirty-six-year-old single-mother did not look a day older than twenty-six, despite the exhaustion she endured due to her busy daily routine.

Always fiercely independent, she had been the subject of much gossip in the village of Tortuga, where Kaya was born. Josephine never told a soul the identity of Kaya’s father, and when the constant whispering and innuendo became too much of an annoyance, she left the Montserrat Hills of Tortuga with her infant son and moved in with her mother in Coconut Grove.

In this seaside town, no one dared trouble Josephine, at least not while her mother was still alive. Most people were utterly terrified of Florence Peters, the dark, imposing woman the townsfolk called Mama Flo. According to a popular local legend, Mama Flo, the proud descendant of a powerful African family, had turned an old suitor into a frog after catching him in a compromising position with her best friend. Several stories exist regarding the fate of Mama Flo’s former friend, but most inhabitants of Coconut Grove agreed that the poor woman had been turned into a blight-infected silk cotton tree.

Years later, having defiantly vowed never to trust her heart to the whims of men, Mama Flo met Ekon Arius Abaniah, a tall, dark, handsome stonemason from Barbados that everyone, except Mama Flo, called Papa Choonks. However, Josephine’s parents would never marry. Their whirlwind romance led to an engagement that abruptly ended, when Ekon was struck down, while hurrying home during an unexpected thunderstorm. The local coroner blamed ball lightning for Ekon’s death. There had been several eyewitness accounts of the bizarre natural phenomenon that fateful evening. However, privately, Mama Flo never accepted the coroner’s verdict. Long before she peacefully passed away in her sleep, Mama Flo told Josephine that Ekon had been murdered by one of the women he spurned in Coconut Grove. This particular woman, she claimed, was secretly a powerful witch. However, to Josephine’s dismay, Mama Flo stubbornly refused to reveal the woman’s identity, saying she had no proof of her guilt. In her twilight years, Mama Flo often sat in her old rocking chair, softly singing old-fashioned melancholy songs.

And sometimes, she’d look in awe at Josephine, going about her housework, and she’d whisper sadly, “Poor Ekon. Boy yuh never know ah was makin’ dis chile when de Soucouyant take yuh from meh. Buh watch yuh daughter boy, look how she grow up strong like she fadah.”

In this day and age, most people would treat the old stories of the Soucouyant, a vampiric witch that roamed the night in the guise of a fireball, as the stuff of folklore. But, Josephine knew better. Mama Flo had raised Josephine alone, and Josephine raised Kaya in a similar fashion. At the first signs of illness, Josephine had given Kaya tea made from what Mr Chen, the pharmacist, called chen pi.

At first, Kaya protested the way most normal fourteen-year-old Trinbagonian boys, in his predicament, would have. “Mammy, I ent drinking Chen pee!”

But, Josephine, the sole proprietor of Josephine’s Flower Shop, knew a thing or two about herbs, plants and Chinese medicine.

She explained to Kaya, “Chen pi is de Chinese name fuh dried orange peel. Yuh doh remember yuh granny used to give yuh orange peel tea when yuh were small?”

Of course, Kaya remembered this. He recalled Mama Flo telling his mother on more than one occasion, “Josephine, doh bother wit any ah dem fancy capsule or tablet. Give de boy orange peel tea fuh de cold an’ tuh stop de ague.”

Ague was what people of Mama Flo’s generation called fever, and that’s exactly what Kaya had now. Orange peel tea, perhaps the most pleasant of Mama Flo’s medicinal concoctions, certainly tasted a hundred times better than karaili juice. Momordica charantia, known as karaili, bitter melon or bitter gourd is without exaggeration one of the bitterest vegetables known to humanity.

Mama Flo often warned Kaya, “If you doh drink dis down, crapaud smoke yuh pipe.”

And, he knew if he did not drink the foul-smelling, bitter-tasting mixture, he’d have a painful appointment with a guava whip. Kaya thanked God his mother did not share his grandmother’s grim zeal or her unshakeable faith in the dubious medicinal properties of the green, warty-looking menace. But, since Mama Flo’s death two years ago, unwilling to take any chances with his precious taste buds, Kaya had developed the habit of ripping up and burning any of the karaili vines and fruit that occasionally sprouted in the garden. The mere memory of the evil taste of karaili made him shiver even more as he tucked himself back into the security of his thick blanket.

Because of his illness, Kaya had already missed the first three days of the college term, and it bothered him that he could not do anything to stop Artimus Corbeau from harassing Raima Khan. Artimus, a fifteen-year-old spoilt rich kid, a class prefect and bully, had the honour of being Kaya’s enemy. Kaya delighted in frequently reminding Artimus that corbeaux, pronounced cobo, was the name Trinidadians gave to the local black vulture; an incredibly ugly bird with a tendency to congregate in the vicinity of garbage dumps. Raima also came from a wealthy family, but had no airs and never uttered a rude word or a condescending remark, at least not to Kaya. For this reason, Kaya appointed himself Raima’s knight in shining armour. And, the fact that Kaya considered her to be the prettiest girl at Paria College had absolutely nothing to do with it.

A loud crack of thunder woke Kaya. Lying on his back, he opened his eyes to be temporarily confused by silvery-blue flashes and deep shadows dancing on the ceiling. Confusion transformed into fear when Kaya realised that he could only move his eyes. Instinctively, he looked to where he remembered his mother had fallen asleep, but no one occupied the rocking chair. Utterly exhausted from her three-night vigil at Kaya’s bedside, Josephine had retired to her room, and not even the thunderstorm could have woken her now.

Nevertheless, Kaya felt a presence in the darkness. Did a thief use the thunderstorm to mask a forced entry into the house? It would not be far-fetched for a criminal to assume that Josephine hid some of the takings from her shop at home. Kaya wanted to call out, but his mouth did not function.
He heard a deep, earthy voice say, “Go back to sleep, Hezekiah.”

Hezekiah? Nobody call meh Hezekiah.

“It is your name.”

Yeah buh…. Who is dat?

“I am a figment of your imagination.”

Yuh t’ink ah schupid, awa?

“Not stupid. Delirious. You are experiencing a hallucination.”

So yuh mean tuh tell me, dis is ah dream?

“Yes, Hezekiah, you are dreaming.”

How come ah dreamin’ if yuh askin’ meh tuh go back tuh sleep?

“You are in a transitional state between wakefulness and sleep.”

Is dat why yuh talkin’ funny?

“What do you mean?”

Yuh soundin’ like ah real Englishman.

“I am communicating in English, but I am not an Englishman. I am your subconscious mind.”

Ah never realise meh subconscious mind could tell lies in perfect English.

“Go back to sleep, Hezekiah.”

Kaya was about to think up another witty retort, but the shadow of a man glided towards him, and he felt overpowering fear.

“Your illness is not natural. You will be better by sunrise, but be careful what you eat or drink. There are those who would do you harm.”

Kaya noticed that the silhouetted man held something in his right hand, which looked like a baton or cane. He heard a low hum and his eyelids felt suddenly heavy; and, as the thunderstorm headed out to sea, Kaya drifted into a deep, dreamless sleep.

Got me on the right path! ~ Review by Ashley Minor

Feeling depressed about our day to day lives isn't uncommon in this day and age. We get up, we go to work, were at a job all day that we don't care about, but we feel stuck because we have bills to pay. It feels like never ending drudgery and I had no idea what to do about it. I knew I wanted to do something else.

I knew the path I was on wasn't working for me. Having enough money to buy more things wasn't all I need from this life and this book helped me to realize that. more money wasn't equaling more happiness.

This book taught me how to reach deep down inside and how to follow the path so that I could realize my full potential. After reading this book I returned to school and began to truly follow my passions. I'll be graduating next year and can't wait to see what my future holds. Even just beginning the journey, I'm already feeling so much happier!

What do a psychic, a family of four and a computer programmer have in common? Unfortunately for them, they reside in the Beaumont House apartments. What appears to be a serene, picturesque apartment complex is actually an otherworldly reality consisting of the supernatural, the strange and the unimaginable.

In “MoonGlow” ~ A computer programmer, developing an online vampire game, is haunted by a powerful, centuries-old spirit who desperately wants to take physical form once again.
In “Gathering of souls” ~ An interior decorator buys an antique painting with a heartbreaking, supernatural history that will turn her world upside down - as well as anyone else who takes possession of it.

In “Heir to a new world” ~ A child is missing and it’s the family’s worst nightmare. Or so they thought. When the child is mysteriously returned the nightmare REALLY begins. The terrifying events that unfold affect not only the family, but the entire planet.

These and other stories await. From horror and sci-fi to Twilight Zone-type fiction, TALES FROM THE BEAUMONT HOUSE invites you in to stay for a while. However, it is not advisable to move in anytime soon.

Excerpt ~ INTRO

The beautiful Beaumont House apartment complex was an old, well-maintained group of Tudor buildings on a large stretch of land. It was a sprawling apartment complex with jewel-colored, freshly-cut grass. There were old, tall shady trees interspersed within the landscape, making it look like a picture postcard.

Seasonal flowers were always planted in circles around the trees, in the pathways and around the perimeter of each of the Tudor buildings adding a touch of delicate color, like lace on a beautiful dress.

The grounds had small hills which looked beautiful all year round. In the winter the children would sled down them, screaming and laughing. The apartments themselves were well cared for inside and out, from top to bottom. Despite its age the apartment complex looked brand new. The Beaumont House was located in a sleepy suburb thirty-five minutes from the city. It was it an ideal place to live for those who worked in the city.

The first smaller building was the rental office. This was where people inquired about rentals or apartments to purchase. There was often a waiting list as the apartment complex was not only pleasing to the eye, but was one of the few pet-friendly apartments in the area.

There was an elderly gentleman who had worked in the rental office for many decades. There wasn’t a tenant who could recall a time when he was not there. He could remember the names and faces of the many people and families who had lived there throughout the decades as well as details about their lives. The old man was extremely thin and pale with a strange twinkle in his eye. What little white hair he had left was standing up in every direction. His suit was sharp and well-pressed but seemed to be from another century. The office had wall to wall bookshelves filled with mostly very old leather-bound books. The old man would often read, sit at his desk and look at his old-fashioned pocket watch.

Sometimes he looked out of the windows to watch the goings-on. People moving in or out, dogs being walked, children playing, residents sitting on their porches, driving to work, walking along the scenic paths and sitting under the large shady trees. The birds were singing, the neighbors were friendly and the lawns were always well-manicured. It was a very nice place to live. An ideal place, or so they thought.

Irin: A Last Scribe Novella

Irin

UK USA CDN AU

There are so many things to love about R. Lee Walsh's Irin, the first installment of The Last Scribe series. Firstly, it's one of the most original and inventive ideas I've come across in many years, not just in young adult/new adult fiction, but any genre. The fact that it is built around an actual prophecy is really cool and adds to the believability of the concept (if you go to Walsh's website thelastscribe.com you can learn more about this). ~ Excerpt of review by K. O'connor

Book Blurb:

According to actual documents hidden in the Apocrypha, an ancient race of supernatural beings known as Irin roam the Earth. Impervious to aging, illness or mortal injury, they wage a continuous war against those who once threatened the survival of mankind by corrupting the natural order. While ever present, they prefer to remain unseen in order to freely move among us. Those who are seen are easily overlooked and immediately forgotten. Walk down any street in the world and you will pass at least one Irin. Depending on the threat or situation, sometimes many.

When his flame-haired partner disappears after a brutal beating, the legendary Irin enforcer known as Riley Storm sets out to bring her back. Ending his search in Los Angeles, territory he once ruled over, he discovers an alarming secret behind the city's most violent criminals and decides to reclaim not only his fiery companion and fiercest ally but the land he once called home.

A fairy tale from Germany

“You’ll find your mission in life.“
This is Agon’s promised prophecy, a young man who hardly knows much about his parentage and grows up in a remote village. He is a misfit and yet someone special. What that means for him, Agon experiences in weird and sinister encounters with the visible and invisible world.
“Agon, the Blue Fire burns within you!” ~ from the book description

Guest article by Manfred Ohl

Fairy tales open up sealed doors to a different reality. Children feel totally at home in the fairy tale world. Adults are searching for it. A saga entices and invites the reader to dive into that always perceived other world. Let us believe the “true” story, which the fairy tale tells us.

It is said that the mysterious “Stone of Wisdom” is the key to truth.

But where is it to be found?

Since the beginning of time, the crystals have recorded our stories with all the delusions and confusions that have brought and still bring us, tragedy, bliss and despair.

Whoever seeks truth … even if it transcends all visible and invisible boundaries … will only find it in the crystal’s immaculate purity.

Agon tells us his true story.

Let us listen and be carried off into his world.

Memoir: Right-Hearted

Right-Hearted is a thought provoking book that the young author has truly written from his heart! Review by Daisy HALL OF FAMETOP 50 REVIEWER

This book is one of the most meaningful and enjoyable books that I have ever read. The author writes from his heart and his writing is so moving and genuine that I cried when I read the book. Since the book was not that long, I actually read it twice.

After reading the book, I am so looking forward to reading more books from this talented young author!

This is a must read for young people, teens and honestly, EVERYONE. It is a book that I found unforgettable!

Highly recommend this book!

Amazing Life Changing Short Story – Book Description:

Right-Hearted: Finding What's Right With A Wrong Sided Heart, is a short memoir about my life-threatening heart conditions and an unforgettable girl. I was born with a broken heart. Literally. My heart is on the right side instead of the left. I was also born with 6 other random congenital heart defects, which have demanded that I undergo dangerous open-heart surgeries since my birth 16 years ago. After my last operation 3 years ago, at barely 14, I was sent away to live so that I would not kill myself. I spent 2 years learning to accept my heart conditions and learning to appreciate my beating heart. The blurry ambulance rides, countless surgeries, metal machines and two years in a Montana therapy school have all contributed to the unique teenager I am today.

I never knew anybody who completely understood my unique struggles until that night under the full moon.

Standing before the sky I had little idea my next two weeks would be overwhelmed with wild love, lust, confusion, tears and a beautiful girl. She and I would share the stories of our hearts...our right-sided hearts. Right-Hearted: Finding What's Right With A Wrong Sided Heart is the story of two lustful teenagers who together confront their life-threatening conditions and learn to embrace their broken hearts.

Perhaps the most realistic love story I've read ` Review by C. Peterson

Great stories and miniskirts share two required elements: they're short enough to arouse interest but long enough to cover the subject. This book fits this description perfectly. Wallock reveals his inner ruminations and insecurities in ways I have felt but not known how to express, and puts heart into his words without getting sappy or "woe is me." The meat of a good story is story, after all, and many memoirs miss this while Wallock keeps story to the front from page one to The End. This is a memoir the way they should be written.

What is the missing variable?

Book13D1

Libellus de Numeros

UK  USA CDN  AU

An excellent book, I love a world where maths and latin is magic. It can seem that way and this will certainly help my son improve his understanding and the way he thinks about mathematics. Latin the basis of grammar, another great learning tool and this book helps promote it, the story itself follows a young girl as she is transported to a world and helps the city defend against the evil wizards set on its destruction. The book is easy to follow and allows children to learn about growing up, as well as teaching them the value of learning. Five stars. ~ Review by Nic Thomas

“A parapsychologic writer, Leonard Belmont seeks truth through automatic writing, a process where he lets his inner-most thoughts and ideas flow onto the paper without conscious critique. This autopilot exploration unearths the unconscious secrets our spiritual self keeps from our conscious, critical self.” ~ from the Amazon Biography

Note: I am so very interested in automatic writing and consider this my lucky day to be introduced to this book. I am sure many of you will agree.

Guest Article by Leonard Belmont

Do you remember when you knew you were falling in love?

Do you recall the thoughts, feeling and emotions you experienced when falling in love?

We have all read or hear love stories at one point or another, but this love is story is very different.

In this five part star-crossed love story, author Leonard Belmont takes us on an emotional journey with his automatic writings of the life of a young couple from the moment they laid eyes on each other.

Lovely Language and Relatable Emotion Make This an Engaging Read ~ Review by E. Lucas (Top 500 Reviewer)

“Five Years: The Meeting” is the lyrical, stream-of-thought tale of the first meeting and initial courtship of two young lovers.

Interestingly, the story begins at the end—you go into the book knowing that the love will end and that the narrator is in great pain as he longs for the woman who was the love of his life. From there, the narrative flashes into the past and recounts the first days of the relationship—from his spotting her in French class and falling instantly in love to the first date and the emotions surrounding it all. As they flirt and share interests, discovering more about each other, the relationship slowly blossoms—even as he (and you as a reader) worry at first that the girl is not as interested in him as he is in her, and that she has missed seeing the connection they could have.

Once you hit adulthood, you’ve probably experienced this instant chemistry with someone—and so the author’s strong feelings and amazement that he has found someone so perfect are very relatable. The sentences are thoughtful and precise, almost poetry, which also made this an enjoyable read from a more literary perspective. Small details in the text, such as the changing color of the girl’s hair throughout the seasons, are also really lovely: “The beauty of sunlight./Your hair transforming throughout the seasons./In summer, you seemed blonde, and during the winter darker, almost chestnut./By fall/The gold had started to rust.”

The delicacy of the language as well as the emotions of the story itself are what keep you reading—as does the mystery of why their romance ended, though I assume that will be revealed in later sequels to this work.

Recommended to readers who enjoy out-of-the-box prose and stories about the intensity of first love.
