I had no idea however when download this that it was written by an 11 year old and I have to say I'm extremely impressed. The story is very well written with put together in a way that made it really entertaining to go through. I loved the illustrations that you find throughout the book as they fit in well and are nicely done. Missing Airplane: Children’s Story

image (1)

UK USA CDN AU

"The Missing Airplane", a children's book, is based on the still missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. It has been missing for 10 months. I have visited the region on several occasions and so I am somewhat familiar with the cultures and most importantly, the face.

My daughter was in Kuala Lumpur visiting her aunt when the Malaysian flight went missing and eventually made her way to Singapore, via train, to return to Los Angeles. I expected the flight to be found on some remote island with crew and passengers safe, and stopped short of ending the book in that manner with a different title.

However, as it dragged on and on, I changed while leaning on hope. I spent Christmas in Singapore last week and not once did I think about the missing Malaysian flight, as I was caught up in the rapture of the holiday spirit.

Last Sunday, like so many across the globe, I was shocked, frighten and numb upon learning that another flight, AirAsia Flight QZ8501 went missing. I have flown the airlines several times and have always found the crew to be cheerful and kind. I can only hold on to hope also for all.

Five Stars ~ Loved this. A new perspective that is refreshing and enjoyable. Easy reading as well. ~ Review by acaputo

In the Age of Anhedonia ~ Book Description

What happens when a person's pleasure center in the brain ceases to function due to mental, emotional, physical, situational, or social strains and challenges?

These highly emotionally charged short stories signify the current age of the numbing of society. The author delves deep into each character's psyche, spiritual prowess, and desire to feel pleasure and contentment again.

Through a message of encouragement and faith, in each story, the reader will be inspired to reach out to God for fulfillment and hope.

Silken Laumann & Crystal Andrus Part Two

You can still listen to the call (replay) and get in on a chance to win some amazing prizes.
Draws for the winners this Friday! GO HERE!

As an Ambassador for Crystal Andrus, I am excited to share my thoughts about the interview between two smart, beautiful women. Crystal Andrus and Silken Laumann.

Just so you know...
I have read Silken Laumann’s book “Unsinkable” and it is FABULOUS!
This is an excerpt of the media blast leading up to the call:

Standing on the Olympic Podium is a woman with a story to tell. Secrets. Dark memories. Scary places. Anorexia, Abuse. Rage and fear.  Her remarkable story is also about resiliency, emotional honesty, forgiveness and love….

Who knew that when 4x Olympic Rower, Silken Laumann, brought home the gold medal for Canada, she was plagued with the pain of her past, the trauma of her childhood, and a story that needed to be told.

Join founder of The S.W.A.T. Institute, Crystal Andrus, as she interviews Silken Laumann, in one of the most intimate, honest interviews Silken has ever given.

*****

When the call started the first thing I heard Crystal Andrus speak of that I wrote down was this - "When I speak authentically, my audience hears me." She is right. I listen and learn when I hear both her and Silken speak. And...I listen to what they write as well.

If you are unfamiliar with Silken Laumann's story, she is an Olympic Rower who was in a debilitating accident 10 days before she was to compete in the Olympics. On the call she spoke about how, as an athlete, she already knew how to use visualization to her advantage. In those important days following the accident, she asked her body to heal itself. She used visualization, refused to take pain killers and only allowed positive people around her. No naysayers allowed.

Silken also worked out with bungee cords in bed to keep her upper body in shape as well as her good leg. Turns out it was later shown scientifically that her hurt leg benefited from the work out she gave her healthy leg.

Silken Laumann's advice to us is this:
  • Send love to your body. It affects you on a cellular level.
  • Get outside and play!
  • Have hope.
Of course there is much more...but you will have to go get her book to find out. http://www.silkenlaumann.com/

I Am Still a Woman: My Journey

iamstillawoman
"Life is too precious to let a disease win. You have to battle it as you battle any other event trying to overpower you: with love."~ Author Nina-Ann McCurley
Prologue - (I Am Still a Woman: My Journey (Kindle Locations 81-89)

At twenty-four, I was given eight weeks to live. I was diagnosed with gestational trophoblastic disease. After intense chemotherapy, I was given a clean bill of health. I had three beautiful sons and a wonderful life.

At forty-three, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and the surgeon said to have a single mastectomy , as cancer was present in one breast. However, suspecting I had a cancer gene, as my mother and every other firstborn of my mother’s family of the past six generations had died of cancer, I decided that I would take the most aggressive life- saving decision: a double mastectomy, hysterectomy, and oophorectomy. As a mother of three boys in their teens, I felt I had no choice.

This is the story of my journey, my love of family, friends, and life. It is my wish that other women will look at breast cancer as an obstacle to life and not a death sentence, and to remember always we are still a woman no matter what!
"I know my journey has made a difference to my family and friends. Now I want to reach out to others who are facing the same terrible journey. I want to tell my story and inspire those women who are standing on the brink of their own battle with cancer."
I am Still a Woman: My Journey is available from the publisher - Balboa Press & Amazon.

Note from Seann: I would imagine it took great courage for Nina to share her story. As well it would be healing for her to express everything she went through. I think the first quote I posted here is quite powerful. She conquered cancer with love. That seems to be a reoccurring theme that I am seeing lately. Check out Nina-Ann's website to follow her blog and learn more about her life.

Christmas Stories for Children

Christmas Stories for Children

Another way to welcome in Christmas and get children excited is to read them stories. Take a look at the Christmas Tree!

I did not notice at first but the words on the ornaments are the actual names of the chapters. Or better said, the messages contained within the book. This is not a picture book. There are 7 stories to teach children Christmas values.

 Christmas Values

 Excerpt - (Kindle Location 41)
Catherine would listen to her father say, “God gives gifts to all of his children. To some he gives wealth, and to some he gives family, but to all he gives peace and joy."
Let us peek inside the book - The first story is about a young girl who goes over to her friends house to play. This friend just happens to come from a very rich family and has a beautiful big bedroom full of toys. Catherine wants to know why life is so unfair. Her father explains to her that it isn't unfair.

“Well,” her father said, “we all get the same important gifts, like love and joy and faith.” (Kindle Locations 71-72) Catherine's father continues on by explaining what faith is.

What is faith? I like the definition from the World English Dictionary that says this - Faith is the strong or unshakable belief in something especially without proof or evidence. However, this other definition listed fits best with this story - Christianity, trust in God and in his actions and promises.

From Living On The Street To Becoming A Successful Entrepreneur

 Dreaming of Hope Street

"I was once a homeless kid in Medellin and understand what needs to be done to make a positive, permanent difference in young lives." ~ Eder Holguin
Allow me to introduce an inspirational book. I am on Chapter four and I must say that this is a riveting book. It moves fast and keeps you in its grasp. Personally, I think this would be a great book for young adults to delve into. I have gathered information from the web to give you a taste of what the book is about and a behind the scenes look at the author.

Eder Hoquin states, "My intention when writing this book was to provide you my story as a source of inspiration and to help you realize that you are not a victim of your current circumstances, you have the power to create your own life. The choices you make and the things you do today will determine your future."

Book Description: Today, nearing forty, Eder is a successful New York entrepreneur in the online media industry and CEO of a digital marketing company. However, as a kid in the mid ’80s, he fled a frightening home life and wound up living for years on the streets of Medellin, Colombia. It was a dicey existence, in what was described during this era as the 'most dangerous place on earth'. where international drug lords like Pablo Escobar ruled, where you could be shot for looking at the wrong guy the wrong way.

Eder Holguin

Dreaming of Hope Street is the story of how he went from living in the streets to become a successful entrepreneur. The book is in the classic Coming-of-Age tradition, and proves that, though life can be ugly and brutal, even the most disadvantaged can overcome the odds and find happiness, their own Hope Street. The narrative steps along and rings with authenticity; it’s often sad, shocking, but ultimately uplifting and motivational.

Review on Amazon by M. Garvey:
It is hard to describe this book without getting buried in exaggeration. Phrases like; heart-rending, and mind-blowing all would do but this book is so very much more than all of that. It is an intelligent superbly written story. As I have always said " a dream will always be a dream until you make it into reality." Not since greats such as Hemmingway have I read such evocative well structured writing. Every line conjures an image, every page tells a story. Great work.
