2076: A Revolutionary Tale” - All Systems Have Failed

Dec 26th to 30th!

In writing 2076 I tried to imagine a world where the mega-wealthy--the 0.1%-- had gotten everything they paid for; a world of haves and have-nots where the truth no longer mattered. The result was a novel about a future that is closer than we think. ~ Stephen Mitchell

From the Author on Amazon page (in Editorial Reviews Section) ~

Question: What inspired you to write "A Cure To Die For?"

Stephen Mitchell:

  • It breaks my heart to see how illness is used and manipulated by Big Pharma for monetary gain. It frightens me to see how pharmaceutical advertising is used to glamorize and normalize the use of prescription drugs. It distresses me to think of the consequences of relying on a for-profit industry for our health and well-being.
  • Within the context of a thrilling and exciting story, I wanted to dramatize how politicians from both parties, with the help of the news media, have sold the American people out to Big Pharma. In the story, I tried to imagine the lengths to which an unregulated drug industry would go to keep a drug that cured cancer off the market if the drug threatened to make all their other drugs obsolete.

From 2076: A Revolutionary Tale” - All Systems Have Failed

Question: What is there about your novel that offers hope for the future?

Stephen Mitchell: 2076 is about rebirth--a spring of societal regeneration after a winter of human failure. To create new growth, a forest sometimes has to burn. Mother Nature has lost all patience with the human species and is boiling mad. Her body language says it all. A change is coming and when she hits the reset button, it's going to be every dinosaur for himself. Any survivors will have to evolve.

Do you really need Insulin?

Insulin Therapy

UK USA CDN AU

As a medical student, I've always wanted to deepen my understanding of therapy issues facing Type II diabetics, so I was glad when a diabetic friend of mine recommended me this book. It turned out to be a useful, accessible guide for Type II diabetics regarding whether and when they should receive insulin therapy. ~ Excerpt of review by Sam Schultz

“Inject or Reject” – Book Description

How would you know whether this book is suitable for you?

1. You are a type 2 diabetic, currently not on insulin therapy, but such a therapy was either offered to you by medical staff or you are currently considering it.

2. You are a type 2 diabetic and are already treated with insulin, but still have doubts whether that kind of therapy is the one best suited to you.

What invaluable knowledge can you acquire from reading this particular book?

1. The truth behind fears and objections to insulin therapy: what are they and how to deal with them?

2. Is there really a laboratory test that can indicate whether or not you need insulin therapy?

3. The merits of insulin therapy in type 2 diabetes: what are the common arguments for such a move and what are their counter-arguments?

4. The wrong reasons for insulin therapy initiation: how to avoid a mess.

5. The point at which non-insulin therapy fails: how to determine it.

6. The technical problems with insulin: can they prevent such a therapy and how can you overcome them?

7. And more…

What is special about the author?

This book was written by Dr. Zilber, an endocrinologist with over twenty years of medical experience. He has treated numerous patients on both sides of the spectrum: those who avoided the necessary therapy – and as a consequence let diabetes gnaw at their vital organs – and those who were treated with an inappropriate therapy and suffered significant and even deadly side effects.

This book was written so that you won't repeat such mistakes and won't fall into the traps that other diabetics have fallen into…

Inexplicable events mystify

Rage_Kindle

This Doctor has a Stealth-a-Scope~ Excerpt of Review by K. J. Dahood

I have come to trust that Gold, though his works are fiction, is trying to tell us some things about medicine that are important. Best of all, they are not so technical that your eyes glaze over. In fact, once you pick up RAGE your eyes will stay wide open into the wee hours. The themes he revisits here is misuse of over-the-counter medications. In this case, it is scopolamine. Ever heard of it? It's on motion sickness patches. Government and intelligence organizations (!) have used it for mind control.

Book Description ~

When normal people suddenly attack and murder, their defense attorney hires Dr. Michael Rose, a former cop turned forensic psychiatrist and his associate, Karen Scott to represent them in court. The inexplicable events mystify these experienced professionals, and together they seek a rational explanation.

When psychiatric evaluation reveals a pattern among the subjects, Michael suspects that there is more to these incidents than spontaneous psychosis. Using his instincts and skills as a former police detective, Michael and Karen begin their own investigation.

What they uncover is chilling.

Who is behind it?

Why is it happening, and most importantly can they do something before the killer strikes again?
During the dramatic denouement, Michael must wrestle with his conscience and the true meaning of justice.

“I wrote professionally as a physician to inform but rarely to entertain, at least not on purpose.” Lawrence W. Gold, M.D.
