Zuri and the Magic Snowball by Cecelia Saunders

A lesson taught to the young in a very whimsicle manner about the importance of striving for what you desire... Wonderfully done so that the young would understand ,and a reminder to an adult..Bravo to the author.....

Book Description: (Age Level - 4 to 10) Zuri makes a wish for a magic snowball. When she receives it, it's covered with more than just snow, it's covered with what she doesn't want; leaves, twigs and broken branches. Zuri's friend, the wise old owl Simeon, shows Zuri how to make her wish in such a way, that she is sure to get what she does want; her hearts desire.

Even though the weather was always changing, the magic snowball would not, could not, melt, until a year had passed and it was again the time of snow in the land of Nod.

Excerpt:

Once upon a time in a faraway land called Nod, there was a mountain and a magic hill.
In the time of snow, the people of the land would travel to the mountain and stand before the magic hill to make a wish.

All who came to make a wish, knew that their wish would always be granted.

Each person that made a wish, wished for just one thing. They wished for a magic snowball that was just right for them.

You see, the snowball was filled with a magic that would allow it to last all year long.

The people of the land were delighted, that the snowball that they received from the mountain and the magic hill, was able to keep its shape and its icy coldness, through all the days of heat, sunshine and rain.

Even though the weather was always changing, the magic snowball would not, could not, melt, until a year had passed and it was again the time of snow in the land of Nod.
