Your kind doesn’t belong here.

Lodestone (Witch-Hunt)

Lodestone: Book 1 Witch-Hunt

He scrutinized me for a long time. “Your kind doesn’t belong here. You upset the natural balance. I can’t grant you peace, but … if you have the will, I can give you vengeance.”

Me ears pricked up like a fighting dog’s. “Vengeance?”

His next words insinuated themselves inside me like a burning cancer. “Wouldn’t you like revenge on the witches?”

Hunger for retribution overwhelmed me senses, and I couldn’t restrain the eagerness in me tone. I licked me lips and begged, “How?”

He extended a hoof to me. “If you want to know, then come with me.”

Later, I would wish I hadn’t done what I did next, but I reached out and took his hoof, vowing that if I couldn’t have Adorabelle back, then vengeance would do.

As a child I had a ferocious imagination and immersed myself in creating stories and poems. One birthday I begged for a chemistry set, sensing the promise of adventure from the glittering vials of copper sulphate and salt.” Wendy Scott

An amazing read! ~ K. Kattenberg
"Absolutely loved the book, I couldn't put it down once I started. The characters are believable (and lovable.)The story flows easily but with unexpected twists that carries you along with it. I can't wait to read more from this author and more of Sabrina's tale."

An inside look at a shallowman!

Recently, I had the opportunity to ask Simon Woolcot a few questions. I came up with the questions myself as I read his book. It's fabulous by the way. The reviews are spot on with this one.

Amsterdam Confessions of a Shallow Man

The Amsterdam Confessions of a Shallow Man is an adult comedy for a mature audience.

The Short and Sweet interview...

Seann - What is your favourite saying?

Simon ~ "My husband/boyfriend is out of town at the moment"

Seann -  Did writing about your life over the course of 30 days change you in such a way that, as readers, we may not know about it?

Simon ~ "I believe I was pretty wonderful before starting and the diary just confirmed it."

Seann - If I were a fly on the wall in your life today, what would I see?

Simon ~ "Today you'd have seen me being interviewed for a Dutch men's magazine, having lunch in a cafe sat next to a group of insanely loud Dutch women who shouted rather than talking."

Seann - Please share with us readers anything else you would like us to know about you and/or your book?

Simon ~ "The book is for adults only, it will make you laugh out loud at least once, but probably more times than that."
Amazing book to read!! The moment you start to read its almost impossible to stop. A story about an expat in Amsterdam and all of his adventures. It's written with a lot of humor and almost impossible not to laugh while reading. Simon Woolcot his blog was already amazing and now finally the book is there to make it even better. Can't wait until the next book!
~ Above review by A. Van Der Zalm - Amazing book!!

Well I can say that I am looking forward to reading the Dutch men's magazine article. Perhaps Simon will post a link to it on his blog.

Previous posting  about 'The Amsterdam Confessions of a Shallow Man'- Would you keep a diary to "see" who you really are?

PS:  Here is an example of how well written this book is. (Pg 19 of 178 in Kindle) Oops let me set it up first. Simon is talking about how a fellow he works with has barged in on his lunch date with his best friend Anna.

"He sounded like an old record with a scratch through the middle. Anna politely answered him in German; I then interceded and told him that we only had twenty minutes for lunch and that I had plans this evening, so didn't want to continue the discussion in German. He glowed as red as a beetroot and then switched to English. Just for a microsecond I caught a murderous flash in his eyes, but he then returned to his usual smarmy self. I've upset the serpent, better watch out."

Would you keep a diary to "see" who you really are?

Amsterdam Confessions of a Shallow Man

The Amsterdam Confessions of a Shallow Man is an adult comedy for a mature audience.

Excerpt of a Review by Meaghan-Immensely entertaining
Simon Woolcot’s ‘The Amsterdam Confessions of a Shallow Man’ dropped my jaws and left it there—seriously. Hilarious and fascinating at turns, Woolcot’s personal account of his adventures while living as an expat in the Netherlands is unapologetically funny—he is a fashion-conscious bad-ass with a sharp eye for the ridiculous and the wit to turn it into something that could leave you laughing on the floor.
Imagine someone pretty much daring you to keep a diary so that you can "see" what you are really like? What a great idea. This is what happened to the author -Simon Woolcot. I pulled this excerpt to share as it sums it up nicely.

Excerpt: (Kindle Locations 96-104)

Anna, a blonde bombshell of a woman from the beautiful city of Frankfurt, who is one of my best friends, my colleague and who claims to know me better than I know myself, says that I am the shallowest man she’s ever known, and that because I constantly deny being so, the best way for me to realize quite how lacking in any real depth I am would be to start writing down exactly how I live my life for a month. Her theory is that I’m so busy living my allegedly shallow existence, that only when seeing my activities written down will it dawn on me how I am the living equivalent of a worm’s grave, i.e. extremely shallow.

A month is a hell of a long time, most of my relationships don’t last that long (joking) and I’m not too happy about making such a long term commitment, but since Anna claims that I lack the discipline to keep a diary, I am intent on proving her wrong. So welcome to the diaries of Simon Woolcot, an allegedly spoiled and shallow Expat from London living in Amsterdam.

*****
Wait! There's more. Simon tells tales of what can be comparable to the seven deadly sins. From the books description:
  • For a month he keeps a diary of his life in Amsterdam, a tale of fine dining, womanizing, romps in sex clubs, bespoke tailoring and office politics.
  • The book is divided into the seven deadly sins, lust, greed, gluttony, sloth, envy, pride and wrath all of which are committed during the course of this book.
  • Based on the popular blog, the Amsterdam confessions of a shallow man, the book provides plenty of insights into life in the Netherlands through the eyes of that cities shallowest man.
About the Author:
Simon Woolcot, some might say he's a legend in his own mind, others call him a nuisance who should go back to London.

Simon Woolcot is a privileged Expat who came to Amsterdam from London for a six month assignment and has remained for nine years. Planning is obviously not his strong point. He spends his time commenting on various aspects of life in Holland on the Amsterdam Confessions of a Shallow Man Blog.
