Zombie Rush Excerpt

Zombie Rush SM

 Zombie Rush

I loved this book! Action packed with a great story line. Actually two story lines the zombie apocalypse and a serial killer. There are strong female characters and more good people than bad coming together to survive the apocalypse. Also a plus for me as a dog lover is there are dogs that don't become just distractions or food for the zombies but actually help and are a part of the story. And the author came up with some new creative ways to kill zombies! :) ~ Review by Kim Grant

Blurb:

Day one of the zombie apocalypse was a day of firsts for the new lieutenant at Hot Springs P.D. She was in a new city; with a new job, new and different jerks and the sudden arrival undead. She should find an island and live out her days in seclusion, living off the land without fear of the dead. But there were those who needed her, strangers all… they needed her.

Excerpt:

Krupp slammed on the brakes and reached for the dash-mounted shotgun when Lisa grabbed his hand firmly.

“What are you gonna do, cowboy? Martial law hasn’t been declared so you can’t shoot them. There are too many to arrest and we can’t get them to the station. Just calm down; we got more to deal with than looters. Besides, the weekend warriors are supposed to take care of that.”

“We have to do something!” Nobles said from the back, her door already open.

“Close your door, Nobles,” Lisa said and the tension hung in the air as the overzealous officer struggled with the instruction. “That’s an order,” Lisa finished. Nobles slammed the door shut.

“Drive on,” Lisa said. “We only stop for murder and the walking dead at this point. That mess over there? It’s out of our hands.”

Krupp threw the truck into gear—leaving no doubt how he felt about it—and drove past the mass looting. They heard the running of hundreds of feet for only a second before they were swarmed by a stampede of terrified humanity trying to get away from… something. Some paused to pound on the glass of the SUV before running on. A man slammed face first into the passenger window and was quickly swarmed by two others.

Zombie Rush

This is a solid story. Mister Hansen takes zombpoc and gives it a fresh spin with characters that you can relate to. Set in an environment that is fleshed out to the point where you can easily see the map in your head. This in now in my top five zombie books of all time. Get it, you'll thank me. ~ Review by Larry D. Phelps

Book Description:

New to the Hot Springs PD Lisa Reynolds was not all that welcomed by her coworkers especially those who were passed over for the position. It didn’t matter, her thirty days probation ended on the same day of the Z-poc’s arrival.

Overnight the world goes from bad to worse as thousands die in the initial onslaught. National Guard and regular military unit deployed the day before to the north leaves the city in mayhem. All directions lead to death until one unlikely candidate steps forward with a plan.

A plan that became an avalanche raging down the mountain culminating in the salvation or destruction of them all.

Rush to get this book! ~ Review by Allen Gamboa

I really enjoyed Joe Hansen latest zombie epic. Imagine your first day on the job in a new town and you have to deal with a horde of hungry undead ravaging your town. This is the brilliant premise of Zombie Rush. Filled with blood and guts and lots of action this book is for fans of the genre and horror fans in general. Rush out to get this little epic before the curfew is enforced.

Exceptional sci fi ~ Review by TrishFLReader

I have been reading more and more indie sci fi books as I am finding that there are some really original story lines out there. This is definitely the case with Bettina Melher's "Decide", the story a young girl who is catapulted into a race to save all of humanity. Set over 30 years in the future, the main character, Elizabeth, is cast through a series of events in which she discovers an object that will change the course of her life. I found this to be a great story, very original, with an interesting cast of characters that definitely pulled me and had me invested in their trials. A great read from start to finish.

Book Description:

Elizabeth Dart no longer dreams of the future, for she is haunted by demons of her past and plagued by childhood memories. She succumbed to her monotonous life in an oppressed world where freedom and choice do not exist. That is, until the day she discovers an alien object and her life takes a dramatic turn. Suddenly the future is all that matters – the future of mankind.

Elizabeth is not alone. She, amongst many others around the world, has been selected to ensure the continuity of the human race. The creators of the alien object warn the chosen ones of the impending destruction of Earth and tell them their only chance of surviving is to abandon their home.

In a race against time, Elizabeth must uncover the truth and decide whether the mysterious messengers can really be trusted.

With the help of her friends, Amelia and Dominic, Elizabeth embarks on a journey beyond human comprehension and learns that nothing ever is as it seems…

DECIDE is a gripping story about love, loss, friendship and ultimately the very survival of mankind.

DECIDE is a science fiction novel with a mix of action, drama, romance and suspense. A story that will keep you turning the pages until the end.

Guest article by D. F. Holland

What do a psychic, a family of four and a computer programmer have in common? Unfortunately for them, they reside in the Beaumont House apartments. What appears to be a serene, picturesque apartment complex is actually an otherworldly reality consisting of the supernatural, the strange and the unimaginable.

In “MoonGlow” ~ A computer programmer, developing an online vampire game, is haunted by a powerful, centuries-old spirit who desperately wants to take physical form once again.
In “Gathering of souls” ~ An interior decorator buys an antique painting with a heartbreaking, supernatural history that will turn her world upside down - as well as anyone else who takes possession of it.

In “Heir to a new world” ~ A child is missing and it’s the family’s worst nightmare. Or so they thought. When the child is mysteriously returned the nightmare REALLY begins. The terrifying events that unfold affect not only the family, but the entire planet.

These and other stories await. From horror and sci-fi to Twilight Zone-type fiction, TALES FROM THE BEAUMONT HOUSE invites you in to stay for a while. However, it is not advisable to move in anytime soon.

Excerpt ~ INTRO

The beautiful Beaumont House apartment complex was an old, well-maintained group of Tudor buildings on a large stretch of land. It was a sprawling apartment complex with jewel-colored, freshly-cut grass. There were old, tall shady trees interspersed within the landscape, making it look like a picture postcard.

Seasonal flowers were always planted in circles around the trees, in the pathways and around the perimeter of each of the Tudor buildings adding a touch of delicate color, like lace on a beautiful dress.

The grounds had small hills which looked beautiful all year round. In the winter the children would sled down them, screaming and laughing. The apartments themselves were well cared for inside and out, from top to bottom. Despite its age the apartment complex looked brand new. The Beaumont House was located in a sleepy suburb thirty-five minutes from the city. It was it an ideal place to live for those who worked in the city.

The first smaller building was the rental office. This was where people inquired about rentals or apartments to purchase. There was often a waiting list as the apartment complex was not only pleasing to the eye, but was one of the few pet-friendly apartments in the area.

There was an elderly gentleman who had worked in the rental office for many decades. There wasn’t a tenant who could recall a time when he was not there. He could remember the names and faces of the many people and families who had lived there throughout the decades as well as details about their lives. The old man was extremely thin and pale with a strange twinkle in his eye. What little white hair he had left was standing up in every direction. His suit was sharp and well-pressed but seemed to be from another century. The office had wall to wall bookshelves filled with mostly very old leather-bound books. The old man would often read, sit at his desk and look at his old-fashioned pocket watch.

Sometimes he looked out of the windows to watch the goings-on. People moving in or out, dogs being walked, children playing, residents sitting on their porches, driving to work, walking along the scenic paths and sitting under the large shady trees. The birds were singing, the neighbors were friendly and the lawns were always well-manicured. It was a very nice place to live. An ideal place, or so they thought.
